Breed description


The Connemara pony is a robust, long-rectangular, versatile pony with a good-natured character, a calm temperament and a lot of nerve.


Colors: Grays, Bays, Blacks, Foxes and Buckskins, Palominos, Smokey Blacks and BECs

Size: 135-148cm

Tube: 17.5 - 21 cm

Head: medium size (suitable), not too long, with medium sized, friendly eye, which should not be too far in the upper part of the head; the ears should be of medium length and not too close together; the nose shape is straight to slightly convex.

Neck: sufficiently long, not fleshy, tapering towards the head; a slight lower neck is tolerable.

Withers: well defined, but should in no way be prominent and should ensure a good saddle position.
Topline: flowing, not blurred, elastically modeled; A slight overstructure of the hindquarters is tolerable.
Shoulder: slanted and long, thus providing enough space.
Croup: medium long with sloping croup, tail set relatively low, deep trousers.
Torso: with round-oval to oval ribbing, always sufficiently deep, broad, expansive chest,
